Lucky Penny Farm is nestled in Fosterdale in the Sullivan County countryside about 90 mins northwest of NYC.  We are a small farm dedicated to producing food that is not only healthy for you but tastes wonderful, and to the preservation of heritage breeds of livestock and poultry.  Here at the farm we raise chickens, ducks, geese, sheep, goats, pigeons, peacocks, turkeys, hogs, guinea fowl and are hoping for some mules.  We believe that animals and crops can be raised in a natural setting without the use of antibiotics, hormones and chemicals.  Our livestock and poultry free range.

We have chosen to be all natural as opposed to certified organic because although we raise and grow everything at an organic level or higher, we have come to the conclusion that certification adds an unnecessary cost to the product that would have to be passed along to the customer.

Our heritage livestock and poultry breeds are: Romanov and Tunnis Sheep,   Sebastapol geese, Black Jersey Giants, Blue Breasted Cubalyas, Buff Chanteclers, assorted Standard Cochins, Black Copper, Black, Blue Copper, Silver, Blue and Cuckoo Marans, and Buckeye Chickens; Blue Slate and Royal Palm Turkeys; and Hereford hogs.

Our farm is home to all of the above, as well as a guard llama named Julie, her baby Rome -born in Oct and her constant companion Paco, a Suri Alpaca (whom she ignores),  horses, Avalanche (a snow white mammoth jack who we will be standing at stud if he ever decides he really does like mares), Egyptian Geese, free ranging bunnies (they run around the farm and keep us amused in the evenings with their rabbit dance) a black pot belly sow named Jungle Pig,  because she likes to hide in the tall weeds, her daughter Jane, a couple of cats, 4 field Irish Setters and a Great Dane named Sadie, who likes to mother the baby lambs. There is also us, Penni Buchal and Pat Martinetti, and our son and his fiancee.

The hog operation at our farm belongs to and is managed by our son Daniel, who calls his operation Dirty Dan's Pigs.
